So guys the voice cast is getting replaced bar Eggman and Roger Craig Smith (the voice of Chris Redfield / Ezio from ACII) is his replacement. He has a pretty decent demo reel. Linkkkkkkk to it
Tails is the only other cast member revealed so far and its the chick who plays Sakura on Naruto I think, dunno - not too familiar with her. Of course Mike is still Eggman and that is major win. I could not see anyone else being the good old doctor, especially not after his amazing performance as him in Unleashed especially. not making this up I for one am welcoming this change with open arms. I hope he gives Sonic a voice that gives him a bit more attitude. |

Yep, read about that too. I also completely agree with you!
Some of the actors definitely did get better throughout the last few games, but this could be an interesting change. I read confusing reports regarding the voice actors that'll be used for Sonic Colors; any official reports regarding that, yet? |

I am pretty sure they are going to be in Colours because the blog post said with Colours coming up they are the only three to be concerned with. Pollock has already recorded new lines for the game because you can hear them in the gameplay footage...
But Sonic hasn't said a word, and I think he just uses recycled grunts at the moment. So chances are they are recording the new vocals and/or have already recorded them but were waiting to make the new announcement before the next trailer goes live (which I bet will showcase the new voices). Thats just my guess though. |

Thought as much. That makes a lot of sense.

AAUK gave out clean clips of the VA. O: He's the Alton Towers guy, confirmed.

Sounds strangely familiar, but also pretty different from previous (game) voices. Not sure if I like it yet, to be honest... I mean, performance was only part of the issue, the script in recent games had been pretty bad too; in other words, it doesn't matter how good a voice actor is if you make them say stupid stuff.
It certainly sounds interesting though, but I'd like to see/hear it in action. |

Keep in mind too the context of what he had to do with those lines as well. It was for an amusement park, but despite that I love his voice still. Especially the lets get some speed or whatever it was again.
Anyway, I'm sure when the game comes out the voice will be more fine tuned. Besides, I have no issues with the guys voice acting abilities...he is actually the most qualified guy for the role out of anybody they hired in the past IMO haha. |

8D But Arti, you are a rebel 1 action and love everything that is hated.
Either way, I thought Black Knight and Unleashed were written alright. =O |

Nah, I can just see he is a much better and varied voice actor than Griffith was. Not to knock the guy too hard because I stopped really giving a huge sh*t about Sonic's voice a while back, and he seems like a genuinely nice guy and it was his job and all, but I think Roger is a much better voice actor all around. Alton towers was a rollercoaster thing, and with the cleaned up voice clips and given the circumstances I think it sounds on par with Jason at his best really.
And besides, as we all have learned, it usually takes a game before the VA will end up really finding their groove, so whatever he sounds like in the next game after some getting used to the character will probably be leagues better than what he has done now. As for writing, I liked Unleashed's writing for the most part (some of the parts with Chip are just UGH FACEPALM WORTHY) but they wrote Sonic alright, but Eggman was the real star haha. Then again Mike Pollock lucks out with that as Eggman generally has been written awesomely in all the games, and voiced awesomely as well. Black Knight I didn't watch much of, can't say I care for it much though. Thats a game that's very well hated that I also do not care to even try out, let alone sit through all the cutscenes (gasp, I refuse to play a Sonic game other than Shadow's what's going on!?). So I think I just disproved your theory :P |

You didn't disprove his theory, you just didn't give Black Knight a shot. =P
That's really sad too, because despite the immense amount of hatred that game gets, very few people have actually played it; most cite all the crap that they heard from bad players in early videos as if they were facts. I actually played through the whole game, a rare occurrence nowadays, and was surprised at how much I liked it! Believe it or not, I don't think I'd had this much fun since SA2! Admittedly, it was far from perfect and the mere fact that Sonic uses a sword is questionable, but it was still a fine game; far better than Secret Rings, and in my opinion, even Unleashed. |

No, I disproved his theory about me liking everything that is hated. As far as I can tell Black Knight is not really well liked and I don't like it either.
I have watched enough videos to see that the animations are garbage, the game looks terrible graphically, and the story from the cutscenes I have watched can be okay...at times. But what gets me, and the reason why I do not give this game my time of day at all , is the waggle controls. I have been vocal for a while that I am not a fan of waggle controls at all. Hell, motion controls in general are hard for me to get into and these new peripherals coming out for the other systems...man, I have changed my tune with those. I don't think they really look like they are doing anything I can get into, none of 'em. With the exception of Children of Eden, which looks like a trip in itself and reminds me of Rez (naturally) so that is my big exception so far and doesn't look really waggly more like...well I don't know what to call it really haha. So of course I'm not going to give a game with a control style I can't get into a chance, because I know for a fact I'm not going to enjoy playing it. It isn't so much Sonic using a sword that bothered me, it was a storybook title and that makes it make more sense to me since it has no real bearing on anything else. Personally I'll stick with Unleashed and its buttons. Sonic Colours on the other hand looks good (which is the reverse of what I thought when I first heard of the game) and can use buttons, I do wish it was multiplatform, but hey, I'm not gonna make a big stink over that because I didn't get all three current gen consoles. I bet the 20th anniversary title is gonna go to the other two systems anyway so whatever. Between that and Sonic 4, and probably the 20th anniversary, I'm certain that this year and the next are going to be fantastic for Sonic games. |
